Cocu will not be PSV head coach next season, says club director
The former Barcelona star led the Eredivisie outfit to KNVB Beker glory at the weekend but remains determined to return to coaching at youth team level at the season's end
PSV director Marcel Brands does not believe that there is any chance of Phillip Cocu performing a U-turn on his decision to leave his position as head coach in the summer. The former Netherlands international was last month installed as caretaker coach until the end of the season, but Sunday's KNVB Beker success prompted speculation that the 41-year-old might be tempted to extend his stay at the Philips Stadion.
However, Brands is in no doubt that Cocu will follow through on his plan to return to youth team coaching in order to garner more experience before he embarks on a career at the highest level.
"Phillip was very clear: he will go to the A1 this summer," Brands is quoted as saying by Voetbal International.
Cocu, who enjoyed two separate stints with PSV as a player, has already stated that Dick Advocaat should be the club's next permanent boss.
