AC Milan's Mark van Bommel would be welcomed back to PSV, says technical director Marcel Brands
The Netherlands captain has been told he would be met with open arms at the Eredivisie powerhouse after the player admitted he hopes to end his career with the Eindhoven side
PSV technical director Marcel Brands says Mark van Bommel is welcome to return to the Eindhoven giants after the AC Milan midfielder revealed he would like to finish his career at the club.
The 34-year-old spent six years at the Dutch club, winning four league titles and a KNVB Beker before joining Barcelona in 2005, and he recently admitted that he would like to return to the Eredivisie side to end his playing career.
Brands has now admitted that PSV would welcome the Netherlands captain with open arms, but insists that the club have made no contact with the midfielder yet.
"Mark van Bommel is welcome," Brands told Voetbal International. "As a club is not allowed to speak to a player until six months before his contract expires, we have not made Mark an offer.
"In our opinion, it is not necessary to do that right away on January 1, because we all know the situation. Mark really wants to return and we want the same."
Van Bommel's contract with Milan is due to expire in June 2012.
