Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax have received some disappointing news on the injury front in the build-up to the league match at home against Heerenveen on Wednesday evening.
The Amsterdam giants will have to make do without the services of young midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro when they take on the Friezen after the Uruguay international picked up yet another injury.
Lodeiro had only just resumed regular training again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a foot injury, but the gifted playmaker was again hit by misfortune during a training session at the weekend.
A report on the official Ajax website reads that Lodeiro has broken a bone in his right foot and will consequently be unavailable for two to three months.
The 20-year-old has been plagued by injury ever since he joined Ajax from Nacional in January 2010. Lodeiro has made only eight Eredivisie appearances so far.
