Bart Schenkeveld Injury Blow For Feyenoord
The young defender will be sidelined for about seven to nine months due to injury...
Eredivisie powerhouse Feyenoord have received some disturbing news on the injury front in the aftermath of their first training session of the 2010-11 campaign last week.Young defender Bart Schenkeveld picked up an injury during the training session and was forced to leave the training grounds due to the knock. The 18-year-old visited the hospital last weekend to undergo a scan and Schenkeveld got bad news from the doctors.
The versatile defender has damaged his cruciate ligaments and will be out of action for an estimated seven to nine months due to the knee injury.
"This is a huge disappointment for me. I was really looking forward to the new season and it's all over again after only one training session. I will have to focus on my recovery program now and I'm determined to return to full match fitness," said Schenkeveld on the official Feyenoord website.
Schenkeveld is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy and made his official debut for the Rotterdam side last term. He has so far made five Eredivisie appearances.
