The versatile Ajax youngster could stay at Groningen for another season...

Eredivisie outfit Groningen are eager to hold on to versatile Ajax youngster Daley Blind beyond the end of this season. The highly rated defender is currently on loan at the Green-White Army until June 2010.

"Daley has been in outstanding form ever since he joined us last winter and we'd be more than happy to hold on to him for another season. He can continue to develop into a better player here," Groningen's technical director Hans Nijland was quoted as saying by De Telegraaf.

"We are very satisfied with his performances. He can play in several positions and really adds something to the team. We have informed Ajax about our intention to extend the loan deal, but they have yet to make a decision about Daley's future."

The 20-year-old Blind is a product of the Ajax youth academy and made his official debut for the Amsterdam side in December 2008, but struggled to get regular first team action thereafter and was farmed out on loan to Groningen.
