Official: Groningen Sign Ajax Youngster Daley Blind On Loan

The young defender is on his way out of the Amsterdam ArenA...
Eredivisie giants Ajax are on the verge of farming out young defender Daley Blind to Groningen on a six-month loan deal, according to a report in Voetbal International.

The Green-Whites are desperate to add some more defensive power to their squad due to the lengthy injury absences of Sepp de Roover and Ondrej Svejdik and have turned their attentions to the 19-year-old Blind.

The versatile youngster made his official Ajax debut in December 2008 and has made five Eredivisie appearances so far for the Amsterdam giants. However, he has made few starts this term and therefore requested a loan move.

The report suggests that the two sides have already reached an agreement and that it's now up to Blind to decide whether he's interested in joining Groningen for the remainder of the season.

Update: Ajax have confirmed on its official website that Blind will leave the club on a six-month loan deal. The defender joins his new club with immediate effect.
