Official: CSKA Moscow Sign VVV Star Keisuke Honda
The Japanese playmaker is set for a Russian adventure...
Champions League hopefuls CSKA Moscow have completed the transfer of VVV's Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda for a reputed fee of €9 million. Honda has signed a four-year deal at CSKA.
The Russian giants are preparing their team for the new season and head coach Leonid Slutski was eager to add some more creativity to his squad ahead of the two-legged Champions League tie against Sevilla.
Honda joined VVV from Nagoya Grampus Eight in January 2008 and didn't waste any time in impressing at the Eredivisie outfit. The free scoring midfielder found the net 24 times in 68 league appearances in the past two seasons.
"We are sad to see Keisuke Honda leave the club, but this transfer will benefit the club in the long term. VVV are happy with the transfer fee received for the player, as it almost matches our asking price," said VVV chairman Hai Berden on the club's official website.
Honda made it clear that he was absolutely delighted with the deal and that he's looking forward to playing Champions League football with his new club.
