CSKA Moscow Closing In On VVV Star Keisuke Honda - Reports
The transfer of the Japanese international could be a done deal by the end of the day...
The transfer of Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda from Eredivisie outfit VVV to Champions League hopefuls CSKA Moscow could be a done deal by the end of Tuesday, according to several reports from Russia and Japan.
VVV chairman Hai Berden recently made it clear that negotiations had been going on for well over two months and that the deal could very well collapse if the Russians refused to meet the Dutch side's demands.
However, Berden has now stated that an agreement is about to be reached. CSKA Moscow are reportedly ready to make a €9 million offer for the free-scoring midfielder.
"The negotiations about the transfer of Keisuke Honda have reached their final stage. I am confident that we will reach an agreement with CSKA very soon," said Berden to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
"Nothing has been signed just yet, but it's safe to assume that ink will be put to paper this week. This transfer is unique for a club of our stature."
Honda joined VVV from Nagoya Grampus Eight in January 2008 and has made 68 league appearances for the Venlo side, scoring 24 goals.
