The KNVB Beker has reached the stage of final 16 and there are still a number of surprise packages among the teams involved...

KNVB Beker
Monday

Heracles - Go Ahead Eagles

Tuesday

Baronie - Sparta
Feyenoord - AZ

Wednesday

Twente - Helmond Sport
Heerenveen - PSV
Groningen - NEC
WHC - Ajax
De Graafschap 2 - NAC

The first match of round 4 of the KNVB Beker is the clash between in form Eredivisie side Heracles and Eerstedivisie outfit Go Ahead Eagles. The home side might be performing superbly this term, but Go Ahead certainly won't be pushovers. The Deventer are one of the top side's of Holland's second tier and players such as Halil Colak and Kari Arkivuo have the potential to make it in the Eredivisie. Men to watch for Heracles will be towering forward Bas Dost and versatile attacker Willie Overtoom.

The big game on Tuesday is the encounter between Rotterdam powerhouse Feyenoord and reigning Dutch champions AZ. Feyenoord start the match as favourites following their strong Eredivisie campaign, but AZ will be desperate to record a good result in De Kuip. The Rotterdam powerhouse have won their last four official matches and have set their sights on winning the Dutch Cup this season. However, newly appointed AZ coach Dick Advocaat guided the Alkmaar side to a 3-0 league win on Saturday and AZ impressed against PSV last week, too. Man to watch at Feyenoord will be Ivorian winger Sekou Cisse, while Jeremain Lens is still the man in form at AZ.

Elsewhere, Eredivisie side Sparta travel to amateur team Baronie in a game that shouldn't be too much of a problem for the Kasteelheren.

Eredivisie table toppers Twente lock horns with Helmond Sport on Wednesday and the Tukkers are widely expected to progress to the next round. Head coach Steve McClaren previously rested some key players in the KNVB Beker, but is expected to field his strongest available XI in Twente's final game of 2009. Helmond Sport sit only ninth in the Eerstedivisie and shouldn't pose too much of a problem for Twente.

Wednesday's biggest match is the one between Heerenveen and PSV. Both sides qualified for European football last term and PSV have been once against impressive this term. Heerenveen on the other hand are struggling to find their best form and are battling against relegation so far. They might have to focus on winning the KNVB Beker if they are to qualify for European football again this season. Man to watch at the Friezen will be tricky winger Roy Beerens, who came through the ranks of the PSV youth academy before joining Heerenveen. The Eindhoven side will be keen to end the year on a high and chief Fred Rutten doesn't have any notable absentees, except Orlando Engelaar. Man to watch will be Hungarian international Balazs Dzsudzsak.

Groningen
and NEC have both been under-performing this season, but going all the way in the KNVB Beker would safe their season right away. Groningen are being plagued by injury and will have to make do without several key players, while NEC only miss playmaker Lasse Schone due to injury.

Europa League hopefuls Ajax travel to amateur side WHC and will probably progress with ease. They were far from impressive in their previous KNVB Beker games against AGOVV and Dordrecht, but head coach Martin Jol will make sure his men are fully focussed this time around.

The final game of round 4 is the one between De Graafschap 2 and Eredivisie side NAC. The reserves of De Graafschap eliminated Eerstedivisie sides before, but NAC are likely to be bridge too far for the young Superboeren. The Breda side currently sit eighth in the Eredivisie and have a number of superb attacks with the likes of Matthew Amoah and Leonardo.
