Eredivisie giants Ajax may have to make do without star player Luis Suarez when they take on Anderlecht in Thursday's Europa League match.

The Uruguayan international is being plagued by a knee injury and decided to sit out Wednesday's training session due to the knock. Suarez instead visited the hospital to undergo an MRI scan.

"Luis [had been complaining] about pain in his knee for a while already, so we decided to send him to the hospital. It doesn't look too serious though," said Ajax coach Martin Jol to ANP.

"There's a big chance that he won't play against Anderlecht. Luis always wants to play, but it's better to rest him every now and then."

Ajax have already qualified for the final 32 of the Europa League, whilst Anderlecht desperately need at least a draw in Thursday's game.
