Chelsea will not be signing Ajax striker Luis Suarez in the January transfer window, if the player's own words are anything to go by.

The versatile 22-year-old chipped in with a goal as the Amsterdam side ousted NEC Nijmegen 3-0 on Friday evening, telling Eredivisie Live after the match that he would remain with the Godenzonen until the end of the current campaign.

He said, "I don't know where the Chelsea rumours originated from. I've told everyone here at Ajax that I want to stay.

"I want to stay because I start every game, and thus I'll go to the World Cup. I'll definitely be here until June."

Chelsea sit atop the Premier League at present, but with just two points separating them from Manchester United, it has been rumoured that the Blues are eager to deepen their squad heading past January.

However, coach Carlo Ancelotti told the press this week that there was no pressing need for him to strengthen his side.
