Fresh from firing Ronald Koeman, Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar have reportedly moved to appoint Dick Advocaat as their new coach.

Advocaat, the former Dutch national team coach, is currently in charge of Belgium, but will combine his Red Devils duties with those of AZ.

The news has not yet been formally announced, but it is reported in the Belgian media that, following Wednesday's Champions League game between Standard Liege and AZ, it will be confirmed.

AZ parted company with Koeman after a poor start to the current season that sees the Eredivisie champions well off the title pace, sitting sixth on just 25 points in the table after 16 games played.
