Ajax Defender Rob Wielaert On NEC Radar - Report
The experienced defender could be on his way out of the Amsterdam ArenA...
Beleaguered Eredivisie outfit NEC are believed to be interested in signing experienced Ajax defender Rob Wielaert in the January transfer window, according to De Telegraaf.
The Nijmegen side are struggling to find their best form this season and sit only fifteenth in the table after fifteen games. Head coach Wiljan Vloet reportedly sees Wielaert as the perfect candidate to help his team stay clear of the relegation zone.
The 30-year-old joined Ajax from Twente about a year ago after a lengthy transfer saga. However, Wielaert has lost his spot in the starting XI under new head coach Martin Jol and is ready to move on.
Wielaert previously enjoyed a successful spell at NEC from 2001-06, when he made well over 100 league appearances at the Nijmegen side.
His current Ajax deal is due to expire in the summer of 2011, but Amsterdam outfit will be keen to part company with the centre-back if a good offer comes in.
