Ajax Coach Martin Jol Delighted With Win Against Vitesse
The Ajax chief was more than happy with his side's performance against Vitesse...
Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax locked horns with Vitesse on Sunday afternoon and the Amsterdam side cruised to a comfortable 5-1 win. Head coach Martin Jol was delighted with what he saw in Arnhem.
"We didn't make a good start, but we took over the initiative after Vitesse opened the score. Then Marko Pantelic scored three goals to help us to an easy win," said Jol in the post-match press conference.
"I think we absolutely deserved to win this encounter and I'm delighted we did. It's absolutely crucial to keep on winning if we are to fight for the league title.
"We have already played several difficult away games and the other contenders for the title have yet to do so. We host both PSV and Twente later on and that is an advantage for us."
Ajax sit third in the table and trail table toppers Twente by six points after fifteen games.
