Saturday
Twente 1–0 Vitesse
Roda 2–4 AZ
RKC 3–1 Groningen
NAC 3–3 NEC
Sunday
Feyenoord 0-0 Utrecht
Willem II 1–1 ADO Den Haag
VVV 5-0 Sparta
PSV 4–0 Heracles
Ajax 5–1 Heerenveen
Twente 1–0 Vitesse
The home side started the match the better side of the two and Kenneth Perez came close to opening the score for the Tukkers. However, his free kick bounced back off the crossbar before being cleared into safety. Twente remained the dominant team without impressing and Costa Rican forward Bryan Ruiz decided the match with a goal after 85 minutes of play to help his side to an important victory.
Roda 2–4 AZ
AZ desperately needed the full three points in order to stay among the teams in the upper half of the table and young attacker Jeremain Lens needed only three minutes to break the deadlock. However, AZ goalie Sergio Romero showed shaky hands around the half hour mark and Roda defender Pa Modou-Kah levelled the score from close range. Jeanvion Yulu Matondo gifted Roda even the lead about ten minutes after the interval when he tapped home a cross from Mads Junker. However, AZ didn't give up and Rasmus Elm scored the equalizer after being set up by compatriot Pontus Wernbloom. Once again Lens scored AZ's third of the evening after a superb individual move and Brazilian youngster Jonathas capped his league debut with a goal in the last minutes of the game. The latter was shown the red card minutes later after allegedly elbowing his opponent.
RKC 3–1 Groningen
Groningen did not get off to a good start, as shot stopper Luciano was dismissed after only eleven minutes following a cynical foul on Charlison Benschop. RKC opened the score only seven minutes later via the aforementioned Benschop and they did not stop attacking after the opener. Kemy Agustien hit the post with a superb long range effort and Ruud Berger tapped home the rebound with ease. Slovenian attacker Tim Matavz pegged one back for the guests in the dying seconds of the first half and Groningen did their utmost to drew things level again with ten man. Nevertheless, once again Benschop decided the game with a calm finish after being set up Dustley Mulder.
NAC 3–3 NEC
The away side started the match with attacking intentions and were rewarded with the opener after about ten minutes of play. Bjorn Vleminckx was allowed too much space in the area and the Belgian hitman beat the NAC goalie with a superb volley. An own goal from Niels Wellenberg four minutes after the opener meant the equalizer though. However, NEC never stopped attacking and quick winger Saidi restored his side's lead after the break with an amazing goal. The Breda outfit weren't too impressed and highly rated attacker Matthew Amoah netted a brace to gift NAC the lead with only ten more minutes to go. Saidi scored his second of the evening minutes later to help his side to a deserved draw.
Feyenoord 0-0 Utrecht
Not too much to report about from De Kuip. Jacob Mulenga got a good chance to help Utrecht to the full three points, while Diego Biseswar and Luigi Bruins could have scored for the hosts. However, both shot stoppers refused to concede, resulting in a scoreless draw.
Willem II 1–1 ADO Den Haag
ADO Den Haag were reduced to ten men around the half hour mark when right back Ahmed Ammi failed to control his temper and head butted his opponent. The Residentieclub still managed to pick up the lead though via Karim Soltani, who beat the Willem II goalie with a powerful effort. The hosts gave their all to salvage at least a draw and prolific striker Frank Demouge scored the equalizer after sloppy defensive play from Christian Kum.
VVV 5-0 Sparta
The Venlo side were gunning for revenge after being eliminated in the KNVB Beker by Sparta earlier this season and they made a brilliant start to today's game. Adil Auassar helped the hosts to the lead after only six minutes with a good header. Attacker Achmed Ahahoui doubled the lead for VVV halfway the first half with an attempt that went in at the far post. Sparta were unable to fight back and the home side made it four with two identical goals. Keisuke Honda saw two shots being saved by Aleksander Seliga and Sandro Calabro was alert to tap home from close range both times. Holding midfielder Kevin van Dessel made things even worse for the Rotterdam side with a powerful shot twenty minutes before the final whistle.
PSV 4–0 Heracles
The Almelo side's ambitions of leaving Eindhoven with a good result were dealt a huge blow at the half hour mark, when glovesman Martin Pieckenhagen received his marching orders. PSV picked up the lead in the dying seconds of the first half via midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, who left the Heracles goalie no chance with a fine shot. The Eindhoven powerhouse doubled their lead after the break, when Hungarian winger Balazs Dzsudzsak scored his seventh league goal of the season. In form striker Ola Toivonen scored the 3-0 at the hour mark to seal the deal for the hosts after being set up by Dutch international Ottman Bakkal. Serbian youngster Jagos Vukovic scored his first Eredivisie goal ever in the dying seconds of the game to make things even worse for Heracles.
Ajax 5–1 Heerenveen
The Amsterdam side dominated the game from the start and Heerenveen never looked like causing an upset. Vurnon Anita set up Demy de Zeeuw for the opener after seven minutes and the dynamic midfielder did not fail. Again De Zeeuw netted his second of the game halfway the first half, this time following an assist from Toby Alderweireld. Serbian hitman Marko Pantelic made it three for the Amsterdam side at the half hour mark after a one-two with Urby Emanuelson. Star player Luis Suarez added his name to the score sheet from twelve yards after 35 minutes of play before Heerenveen defender Goran Popov pegged one back with a stunning long range strike. Gifted playmaker Ismail Aissati scored the 5-1 minutes before the half time whistle after good work from Suarez. The latter got several chance to add to his tally after the break, but the Uruguayan international's finishing wasn't as clinical as earlier this season following an exhausting week with his national team.
