Eredivisie outfit Groningen will likely be without the services of Nigerian international Oluwafemi Ajilore when they take on RKC Waalwijk in Saturday's league clash.

The holding midfielder has picked up a back injury in Nigeria's 3-2 World Cup qualification win against Kenya and could face a spell on the sidelines. Femi was forced to leave the pitch around the hour mark due to the knock.

"I fell to the ground a bit unfortunate twice before the break and this caused me problems when I was running. I tried to continue play, but I eventually asked the coach to replace me after the break," the holding midfielder said on Groningen's official website.

"They made a scan of my back injury in Nigeria and I'll undergo further examination in Holland. The injury still hurts, so I opted to sit out of Wednesday's training session. I hope to be match fit again very soon."

Femi has made 13 league appearances so far for the Green-White Army this season.
