Official: NEC Appoint Wiljan Vloet As New Head Coach
The Nijmegen side have found a new head coach...
Eredivisie outfit NEC have appointed Wiljan Vloet as their new head coach. A statement on the Nijmegen side's official website reads that Vloet has signed a deal until the summer of 2012 at the club.
NEC were in the market for a new coach after the sudden departure of Dwight Lodeweges about two weeks ago. He resigned after a number of disappointing performances.
The Nijmegen outfit initially made Co Adriaanse their primary candidate, but the former Ajax and AZ chief turned down an offer from the Eredivisie side.
Vloet currently works at Eindhoven giants PSV as boss of the club's youth academy, but the Europa League hopefuls made it clear that they were not going to hold back Vloet if he wanted to leave the club.
The 47-year-old previously worked as head coach at Den Bosch, Roda, Sparta and ADO Den Haag.
