Swedish attacker Ola Toivonen started the 2009-10 Eredivisie campaign in brilliant fashion by netting a brace in PSV's 3-3 league draw against VVV.

However, the youngster failed to find the net in the Eindhoven powerhouse's next eleven league games and was axed from the starting XI by head coach Fred Rutten.

The PSV gaffer reinstated Toivonen as his starting striker for the away game against ADO Den Haag last weekend and the former Malmo star proved his coach right by netting four goals in the Residentiestad.

"I've been going through a difficult period. I started the season in impressive fashion, but lost my spot in the starting XI due to the good performances of Jonathan Reis," Toivonen was quoted as saying by AD/Sportwereld.

"I felt like I deserved more playing time after a number of good appearances coming off the bench and I was extremely delighted that Rutten gave me the chance to prove my worth against ADO.

"I never expected my return to be this glorious though. Scoring four goals in a league game is absolutely amazing."
