VVV 1–1 NAC Breda

NAC defender Robbert Schilder was sent off after only 17 minutes of play and the home side got numerous chances to open the score. Defender Frank van Kouwen broke the deadlock after 40 minutes with a powerful long range strike and VVV appeared to be on its way to a home victory. However, NAC fought back after the interval and Leonardo drew things level halfway the second half. NAC ended the match with nine men after midfielder Tim Gilissen was dismissed in the 83rd minute.

Roda 1-2 Twente

Twente dominated the match from the beginning and Bryan Ruiz scored the opener around the half hour mark following a superb pass from Miroslav Stoch. Roda did their utmost to score the equalizer, but Stoch doubled Twente’s lead after a superb individual move. Roda did not give up though and the Kerkrade side pegged one back via Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo. Twente held on their one-goal lead though and picked up the full three points.

Heerenveen 3-0 ADO Den Haag

The hosts opened the score after twenty minutes and were never really troubled in the remainder of the game. Sloppy defending from Csaba Horvath resulted in a goal from Roy Beerens and things got even worse for ADO after 43 minutes of play, when defender Pascal Bosschaart was sent off. Czech hitman Michal Papadopulos netted a brace after the interval to decide the match. Goran Popov provided the assist for his first goal and Oussama Assaidi set up the striker for his second of the evening.

Groningen 0-1 AZ

Both teams got a number of chances and Brett Holman and David Mendes da Silva came close to opening the score for AZ. Thomas Enevoldsen and Goran Lovre came close for Groningen, but it was Jeremain Lens who eventually broke the deadlock. The versatile AZ forward beat his marker to the ball and headed home a free kick from Stijn Schaars.

PSV 1-0 Vitesse

The Eindhoven side dominated play throughout the game, but were unable to create any serious chances. Substitute Danko Lazovic set up Balazs Dzsudzsak with a good cross from the right and the Hungarian winger slotted home from close range to help his team to the full three points. Jonathan Reis came close to doubling PSV’s lead, but the young Brazilian failed to find the net on two occasions.

RKC 0–1 Willem II

Neither of the two sides were very impressive in Waalwijk, but it were the guests who eventually picked up the full three points. Belgian midfielder Christophe Gregoire saw his penalty kick being saved after 63 minutes of play, but the left footed midfielder was alert to fire the rebound home. RKC were being reduced to ten man with fifteen more minutes to go when attacker Benjamin de Ceulaer received his marching orders for the second time in three weeks.

Heracles 3–1 Utrecht

Utrecht picked up the lead via Danish international Michael Silberbauer after fifteen minutes of play. The versatile midfielder beat the Heracles glovesman with a header at the far post. Heracles weren’t impressed though and Willy Overtoom drew things level with a placed shot after a quick combination. The Almelo side kept on attacking and Everton gifted Heracles the lead with a good header after a cross from Mark Jan Fledderus. Utrecht did their utmost to fight back, but the hosts decided the match after the interval via winger Darl Douglas, who fired home from close range.

Sparta 2–0 NEC

The guests started the match the better side of the two and Bjorn Vleminckx and Rutger Worm came close to opening the score for NEC. However, they failed to beat the NEC shot stopper. However, sloppy defensive play from NEC led to the opener minutes before the break. Nick Viergever set up in form midfielder Erik Falkenburg and the youngster calmly slotted home to make it 1-0. Once again Falkenburg was involved in the 2-0 around the hour mark. His shot deflected off NEC’s Ramon Zomer into the back of the net.
