Heracles Almelo were never really troubled by Eerstedivisie side Haarlem and recorded a comfortable home win. Bas Dost and Everton helped Heracles to a 2-0 lead at half-time and Mark Jan Fledderus added to Haarlem's misery after the break.
Sparta had a difficult evening against VVV and needed penalty kicks to eliminate the Venlo side. Prolific hitman Sandro Calabro opened the score for VVV after 20 minutes of play, but Sparta did not give up and equalised moments before the break via Kevin Strootman. VVV missed their fifth spot kick and Dele Adeleye fired his team to the next round with a well taken penalty.
NAC Breda thrashed amateur side De Treffers 6-1 in an entertaining game. The Eredivisie outfit picked up an early lead via goals from Leonardo (2x), Matthew Amoah, Anthony Lurling and Donny Gorter, before Bas Bakker pegged one back for the hosts. NAC were not too impressed though and Csaba Feher made it six for the Breda side around the hour mark.
Brazilian defender Andre Bahia helped Feyenoord to an early lead against Eerstedivisie outfit Den Bosch when he beat the goalie with a good header after a corner kick. The away side did their utmost to draw things level again, but were unable to seriously threaten the Rotterdam side. Young midfielder Stefan Babovic decided the game in the dying minutes of the match when he fired home after being brilliantly set up by Karim el Ahmadi.
Elsewhere, Helmond Sport and Go Ahead Eagles did what they had to do and progressed, while Jong De Graafschap surprised Zwolle in order to make it to round four of the KNVB Beker.
