Europa League hopefuls Heerenveen have received some promising news from the treatment table, as Finnish midfielder Mika Vayrynen is recovering from his injury quicker than initially expected.

The 27-year-old Finnish international sustained a knee injury back in January in the league match against Ajax and was expected to be sidelined until the end of the year.

However, the former PSV player returned to individual training a couple of weeks ago and has now started working with the first team again. Vayrynen could make his comeback in the Eredivisie match against Willem II on October 25.

Vayrynen has made seventeen league appearances for Heerenveen since returning to Friesland from PSV in the summer of 2008. He made 101 league appearances during his first stint at Heerenveen.
