According to a report in Studio Voetbal, Eredivisie giants PSV are on the verge of completing the transfer of highly-rated striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink on a free transfer. The attacker’s current Celtic deal expires this summer.

Vennegoor has reportedly already successfully completed a medical test at PSV. The Dutch international is expected to sign a three-year deal at the Eindhoven side in the upcoming days.

However, neither of the parties involved has officially confirmed the move so far.

The 30-year-old also had the possibility of signing a new contract at Celtic, but Vennegoor had to accept a pay-cut if he wanted to remain at the Glasgow outfit. Additionally, Enschede side Twente were interested in signing the striker.

Nevertheless, the tall forward has apparently made the decision to snub both Celtic and Twente in order to return to his previous club. Vennegoor played for PSV from 2001-2006.

PSV are keen to add some experienced players to their squad this summer in order to fight for the Eredivisie title again next season. They have already secured the services of Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer.
