The Swedish defender has impressed the scouts of several big teams this campaign...
According to Fotbollsexpressen, highly rated Groningen defender Andreas Granqvist has attracted the interest of German giants Bayern Munich and Spanish outfit Sevilla, after a series of outstanding performances this season.
Both teams sent scouts to Groningen's 2-0 Eredivisie win against Roda last week to see what the 23-year-old is capable of. Granqvist's agent, Martin Dahlin, stated that the interest isn't too serious at this stage.
"They haven't contacted us yet. However, we're not surprised that he has attracted the interest of bigger teams. Andreas has been quite impressive this campaign," said Dahlin.
The Swedish international joined Groningen from Wigan Athletic last summer and immediately developed into an important first team player. He even scored a 65-metre solo goal. All together, he has made 27 league appearances so far, scoring three goals, and was recently called into the Sweden squad.
His current deal at the Eredivisie outfit expires in 2012, meaning that Groningen probably won't let go of their star player on the cheap.
