I Don't Want To Lose Joe Jordan - Tottenham Hotspur Manager Harry Redknapp
Spurs assistant linked with Scotland job...
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has stated his assistant Joe Jordan would be an excellent candidate to take over the Scottish national team, but admits losing him would be devastating.
Jordan has built a strong reputation as a coach throughout his time under Redknapp, and has had recent interest in him build up since George Burley was removed from his position as Scotland boss due to poor performances.
Redknapp says that the position would fit Jordan to a tee, as he is a dedicated man that one would not want to part-ways with.
“Joe would be fantastic. He’s been a good manager, at Hearts and Bristol City, and would be excellent but I really wouldn't want to lose him because for me he is fantastic," he said, according to the Press Association.
“You’d put your life on Joe. He knows the game, [he is] a lovely man and a great character. He’s a quiet man but when he says something it's worth listening to. He’s a good guy.”
The 62-year-old added the role would be a tough one, as Scotland has dropped over 30 positions in only two years in the FIFA world rankings.
He continued: “It's a hard job whoever takes it. Burley is a good manager but he had a hard job as where have the great Scotland players gone?
“No disrespect to the present squad. They have some decent players, but years gone by they were fantastic. Years ago they were the backbone of every English team. St John, Yates, Law, Baxter and people like that.”
Jordan will assume his seat alongside Redknapp when Spurs take on Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
