Mexico's Giovani dos Santos to start South Korea clash on bench - report
The attacking midfielder was left out of the XI used by Luis Fernando Tena in his final training sessions prior to Mexico's match against South Korea.
After poor performances in friendlies against Spain and Japan, Mexico Under-23 coach Luis Fernando Tena is set to alter his formation prior to starting their Olympic campaign against South Korea, with Giovani dos Santos liely to start on the bench.Record reports that Tena trained this Wednesday at the Newcastle University facilities with an altered 4-4-2 formation. The updated strategy did not feature the Tottenham attacker in the starting mix, fuelling speculation that he will not get the starting nod in El Tri's opening match against South Korea.
With less than a day to go before facing the Taegeuk Warriors, Tena sent out Jose de Jesus Corona in goal, Darvin Chavez as a left back, Diego Reyes and Hiram Mier as the two center backs, and Israel Jimenez on the right side of defense.
The midfield would be made up by Carlos Salcido, Hector Herrera, Javier Aquino, with Miguel Ponce taking up Gio's starting spot.
Up front, the duo comprised by Oribe Peralta and Marco Fabian remained unchanged.
