Yakubu arrives in China to seal Guangzhou Fuli move
The Nigerian striker has landed in Guangdong to finalise his switch to the Far East, which Fuli's vice chairman says is "99 per cent done"
Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni is poised to complete his €6million move to Chinese club Guangzhou Fuli after landing in China earlier this week. The representatives of the 29-year-old Blackburn Rovers striker, who scored 17 goals in the Premier League last season, have been negotiating the deal with Guangzhou Fuli for the past week.
Yakubu has now landed in Guangdong to finalise the move, which Fuli vice chairman Lu Yi said was "99 per cent done".
“We are in final talks with him, and the negotiation is almost done. The job is 99 per cent done," Lu told Xinhua.
"If nothing goes wrong with the final one per cent, we will start doing the registration in the Chinese league for him."
Lu also said the club have chased Yakubu, who is their first choice during the Chinese transfer window, for the past "two months".
Fuli are currently fourth in China's Super League after winning promotion to the top flight last term.
