Kim's current club Cerezo Osaka are said to have come to terms with the Welsh outfit for approximately €3 million in transfer fees for the South Korea international. The player's wages are to be set at around €1.5 million per year.
The 22-year-old is scheduled to fly to England on July 15 with his South Korean Under-23 team-mates after their warm-up match against New Zealand's Under-23 side, and is expected to finalise the deal soon after.
Kim was also the subject of interest from Celtic as well as Monaco. He would become just the third Asian player to join the Bluebirds after China's Fan Zhiyi and Japan's Junichi Inamoto, as well as the club's first South Korean player.
In addition to his two goals and two assists in June for the South Korea national team, Kim has scored seven goals in 15 appearances for 14th-placed Cerezo this season.
