Fifa have confirmed that Mexico’s Marco Rodriguez will referee the match in Belo Horizonte, which will be his first knock-out stage game at the tournament.
Rodriguez has so far been in charge of two matches in Brazil - including Uruguay’s narrow 1-0 group-stage win over Italy in Natal, which saw Oscar Tabarez’s men qualify for the last 16.
The victory was overshadowed by Uruguay star Suarez biting Italian defender Chiellini in the shoulder, which after going unseen and unpunished, resulted in Fifa handing the Liverpool striker a nine-match international ban and a four-month ban from all “football-related activity".
Earlier on in the game, Rodriguez had sent off Italy's Claudio Marchisio for a serious foul.
The governing body also confirmed that USA’s Mark Geiger – who was the fourth official for Uruguay’s win over Italy – will reprise the role for Brazil’s semi-final showdown against Germany.
