Just when it seemed Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup dream was over for another year, the Balon d'Or winner provided one stunning piece of magic, and with Silvestre Varela on hand to nod home, Portugal live to fight another day.

While their place in the knockout stages is still very much up in the air, the same cannot be said for Belgium, who sealed their own last-16 berth as Divock Origi struck a late winner to break Russian hearts and qualify from Group H.

They may well be joined by Algeria, who provided yet another fantastic attacking performance in this World Cup to see off South Korea and put themselves on the verge of reaching the second round.

Meanwhile, France's Karim Benzema did his best to catch the attention of one of the competition's most prolific tweeters - pop star Rihanna - as he prepares for Les Bleus' final group game against Ecuador.
