The Costa Rica striker secured a 1-0 victory over Italy which sends his side into the knockout round of the World Cup, leaving Fulham player lost for words
The Central Americans secured a route out of Group D thanks to shock wins over the Azzurri and Uruguay in their opening two games, with the Fulham schemer scoring the decisive goal against Cesare Prandelli's men on Friday.
Ruiz has hailed his team-mates' work rate in the 1-0 triumph over Italy and was quick to thank those who had supported the team.
"I cannot explain the emotions I am feeling right now," Ruiz told Sky Sport Italia.
"We suffered so much in this game. I dedicate the goal to my family. It's incredible to score at a World Cup.
"We had dreamed of this moment, even though we knew people didn't believe in us. We qualified ahead of teams much stronger than we are, so this is all a dream come true.
"We thank all those who did believe in us, as we've achieved something extraordinary considering our country is so small."
