The defender was aided off the field in Saturday's friendly and will undergo surgery on his ankle that will keep him out for three months
Ghana centre-back Jerry Akaminko will miss the World Cup after suffering an ankle injury in the friendly against Netherlands on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was taken off during his side's 1-0 defeat in Rotterdam and will undergo surgery that will keep him out of action for about three months.
The Eskisehirspor player landed awkwardly on an ankle after an aerial challenge and could not continue the game in the dying embers of the match against Louis van Gaal's side.
Ghana team doctor Adam Baba confirmed that Akaminko will miss the finals in Brazil.
"X-rays have revealed that there is a fracture to the left ankle joint, that is the fracture of the fibula bone. What will have to be done is surgery," Dr Baba told the Ghana FA's website.
"If surgery is done depending on his rehabilitation we will give him at least three months to be able to fully recuperate from the injury and start playing."
