thumbnail Hello,

The Italia '90 hero has been impressed with the Torino striker this term and has advised Mario Balotelli not to let himself be provoked

Former Italy star Toto Schillaci believes that Ciro Immobile warrants a place in Italy's World Cup squad after starring for Torino this season.

The former Juventus man topped the Serie A scoring charts as the Turin outfit failed to seal Europa League qualification on the last day of the season.

The 24-year-old has only won one cap for his country to date but Schillaci, one of the stars of Italia '90, believes he deserves to start alongside Mario Balotelli in Brazil.

"He reminds me of myself," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He knows how to find the goal - that was confirmed by a great Serie A. He was the league's top scorer and he deserves a jersey at the World Cup.

"I hope that he arrives in Brazil without a lot of expectation and can play with the same freedom I enjoyed, growing little by little.

"I like Balotelli a lot too. He is very strong, he can help us have a great World Cup, but he must learn to rise above provocations."
