After his side suffered a heavy defeat to Argentina they followed this up with a defeat on Tuesday and the 31-year-old concedes it has been a difficult time for La CelesteUruguay defender Diego Lugano has revealed he is concerned about the team after their dismal 4-1 loss to Bolivia in the Conmebol World Cup 2014 qualifiers.
In a match that saw little defence from La Celeste side, in the absence of Lugano, Bolivia's Carlos Saucedo helped himself to a hat-trick within the first hour.
Oscar Tabarez's charges now find themselves in 5th place out of nine in their group and the 31-year-old centre-back says they are going through a difficult spell.
"What do you want me to say?" Lugano told reporters. "Results are not given. It's a rough patch."
Upon reflecting on the match, he said: "We created goal situations, but another amazing thing is that every time our opponents come forward, it was practically a goal."
Uruguay will travel to Poland next for an international friendly, in a month, on November 14, where Lugano could be in contention to start for the South Americans, but he hopes they turn around their form quickly.
"I want to believe this is just a stage," said Lugano, "One where, incredibly, everything went wrong."
