Lens: Netherlands have taken a big step towards World Cup 2014
The versatile attacker was very pleased with the Oranje's victory as they maintained their perfect record, and feels the team are edging closer to booking their ticket for Brazil
Jeremain Lens has voiced his satisfaction with Netherlands' 4-1 World Cup qualification win over Romania on Tuesday, and believes Louis Van Gaal's men are well on their way to the finals.Holland are one of only two European teams that have won all their qualifiers so far as they top Group D with 12 points from four games, and the attacker has highlighted the importance of the victory in Bucharest.
"The most important thing is that we won the match 4-1. We are not there just yet. However, we have taken a big step toward qualification for the World Cup," Lens was quoted as saying by De Telegraaf.
The PSV attacker opened the scoring early on with a fine header from outside the area, and Lens was understandably pleased with his goal.
"The ball landed perfectly on my head and I could head it home nicely. It was very nice to score the opener as Romania were putting the pressure on us."
Holland resume qualification action in February 2013 when they host Estonia and Romania.
