Brazilian presidential adviser Marco Aurelio Garcia has hit out at Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke.
Valcke claimed last week that the organisers of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil were in need of a "kick up the backside" in light of reports that construction work on their selected tournament venues is behind schedule.
Selecao legend Romario and Brazil's sports minister Aldo Rebelo both reacted angrily to the Frenchman's outburst and now Garcia has weighed in.
"This [Fifa] spokesman’s name has been crossed off. This guy is a bum," he told O Globo.
"The president [Dilma Rousseff] has better things to be worrying about than the comments of a boquirroto (a person who speaks too much and without thinking).
"He [Valcke] is a boquirroto but he’s not created a problem for us - he’s created a problem for Fifa."
Valcke, who used to work as a journalist, was appointed general secretary of Fifa in 2007.
