Prince William has revealed his disappointment as the 2018 World Cup was given to Russia.
The Prince, who was dubbed one of the “Three Lions” along with Prime Minister David Cameron and David Beckham, spoke about the feeling from within the bid team as the announcement was made at Fifa headquarters in Zurich.
“Obviously I’m extremely disappointed and so is the [bid] team. We had a very strong bid, sadly it didn’t work out. The guys have been doing a fantastic job, a real professional campaign and I’m immensely proud of them," he told Sky Sports News.
“The guys behind the scenes have been working themselves silly for the last few years so I’m so glad they’ve given as much effort as they can and I’m immensely proud.
“Congratulations has to go to Russia, they won, and well done to them. I’m sure it’s going to be a very good World Cup.”
