World Cup 2018 hosts Russia are 21.0 (20/1) to win the tournament on home soil in eight years time. The Russian bid beat off opposition from favourites England and were as long as 3.0 (2/1) compared to the English 1.66 and will host the event for the first time in their history.
Russia have failed to qualify for the last two World Cups and were eliminated in the group stages in 1994 and 2002. Host nations have won the World Cup on six occasions most recently with France in 1998 but Russia have never gone beyond the group stage since the break up of the Soviet Union.
Graham Sharpe, William Hill Media Relations Director, posted on Twitter, "England 10/1 to host 2030 World Cup with William Hill who make them 14/1 to win the 2018 event in Russia.
"Wayne Rooney 2/1 with Hills to start (1/2 not) England's first match in 2018 World Cup finals, 9/1 to score their 1st goal of tournament.
"Jack Wilshere 9/1 fav with Hills to skipper England in their first game of 2018 WCup finals - 20/1 to score their first goal of tournament."
Current holders Spain are the favourites with William Hill at 6.0 (5/1) with Qatar and Wales the rank outsiders at 1001.0 (1000/1) with the bookmaker.
David Mole, Goal.com's betting & odds expert said, "So there we have it, a triumph for football over money, categorical proof that FIFA cannot be bought... oh wait!
"For anyone chasing their losses on a last minute England bid wager, there is always the 2018 World Cup to bet on. Spain are favourites at 5/1 but remember that the core of the 2010 winning team will be about ready to give it up by then.
"England are a whopping 14/1 but you have to ask whether the talent is currently working its way through the ranks? One thing to remember is that a lot can change in 8 years, so invest wisely!"
