Robbie Keane scored two second-half goals to guide LA Galaxy to a 2-0 victory over Cartagines in their first Concacaf Champions League group-stage game on Tuesday.

After a frustrating opening 45 minutes, the former Tottenham and Liverpool striker collected a smart pass from Landon Donovan on the left before finding the back of the net from a tight angle just past the hour mark - although the Costa Rican club's goalkeeper, Wardy Alfaro, could have perhaps done better.

The Republic of Ireland all-time top scorer then added a second deep into stoppage time, with Donovan again the supplier, after beating Alfaro when one-on-one.

The 33-year-old has been in exceptional form in 2013, notching 12 goals and nine assists in his last 15 games for Galaxy.
