Messi may not have scored but he had a hand in two Barcelona goals.
Strange is the La Liga weekend when neither Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo score. The World Footballer of the Year can at least console himself in the knowledge that Barcelona moved four points clear thanks to their 4-1 win over Malaga.
He may not have got on the scoresheet but Messi did play his part in yet another incredibly slick performance from Pep Guardiola's side.
Popping up all over the attacking third, Messi was heavily involved in Barcelona's slick passing moves and played through an excellent ball to David Villa to score the second goal.
The diminutive Argentina also had a hand in goal three, playing Andres Iniesta in on goal with an excellent through ball, which Pedro eventually put away after Sergio Asenjo had saved the initial effort.
In the second half Messi continued to slalom his way round the Malaga defence with one particular excellent run in the final seconds just failing to find the final ball.
