Celebrating the fools of football over the last seven days.
We begin with a dumbass sending off from Down Under.
Melbourne Heart and Sydney FC played out a goalless draw on Saturday night in A-League but the match did come to life in second half injury time. Completely stupidly and completely unnecessary, a combination of a fat mouth and an over-zealous tackle saw experienced South Korean defender Byun Sung-Hwan chalk up two retarded bookings in the space of sixty mindless seconds.
Next we dip into our usual collection of bad misses.
Over in England, Ashley Young missed a gilt-edged opportunity for Aston Villa at the weekend as the forward received the ball unmarked at the Arsenal back post but the number seven scooped the ball over the bar.
Also clearing the bar was Fluminense striker Fred who, after breaking through the Palmeiras backline to find himself one-on-one with the keeper, proceeded to pull of a Chrissy Waddle-esque finish as his effort ended up in row Z.
The prized screw-up of the week, however, was located in France.
Sunday night's high-profile clash between Lyon and PSG looked to be going the way of the Parisians after Guillaume Hoarau scored an 83rd minute penalty. All PSG needed to do was to see out seven minutes and not make any mistakes. It should have been game, set and match.
PSG keeper Apoula Edel had others ideas.
