VIDEO: Top Bloopers of the Week (August 30-September 5)

There may have been less football over the past 7 days but there were plenty of screw-ups.

By 101 Great Goals

First up, we need to correct an oversight: last week's list did not include the incredible miss by Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz against Spurs - so here it is in all its awesome glory.

It has been a quiet week with international football the main source for the gaffes, misses and spectacular mistakes that we love to highlight.

The Copa Sudamericana match between Barcelona SC and Penarol saw Jose Perlaza score an amusing own goal. It can be seen at 1.05 on this video and simply makes you feel sorry for Perlaza who came close to an incredible goal line save.

Forward players also had a tough time in the past seven days. Neymar, now becoming a regular in this round-up, spectacularly failed with this back heel.

And Crotone striker Aniello Cutolo was lucky he scored an absolute rip snorter against Torino as just minutes earlier he had missed an easier chance than skied high by Alcaraz. Cutolo's incredible miss is at 0.40 on this video and his excellent goal at 1.00.

Cutolo wasn't the only player to revert from villain to hero this week. Liverpool fans would have been worried by new signing Raul Meireles' horrendous back pass in the 4-4 draw between Portugal and Cyprus but he also redeemed himself with a long range strike.

The clear outstanding winner of top blooper of the week comes from the MLS. DC United goalkeeper Bill Hamid is probably still having nightmares about this horrendous mistake that allowed Guillermo Barros Schelotto to score the winner for Columbus Crew.

Hamid, 19, summed up his error after the game: There's no excuse, it shouldn't have been a goal, it shouldn't have been a mistake."
