Video Poll Results: AC Milan's Filippo Inzaghi Scored The Goal Of The Week (August 23-29)
The legendary Italian goal-getter was chosen as your favourite goalscorer last weekend.
By 101 Great Goals
As you know by now every Monday we publish the top 10 goals of the week for your enjoyment. While we're happy to fish out what we believe are the best ten goals from world football for that week, we leave it up to you to decide which of the strikes you believe was the best of the best.
Thousands of votes were cast but last week's result was barely in doubt.
Working backwards on your top three picks, in third place was Giampaolo Pazzini's sublime volley for Sampdoria in the Champions League which raked in 291 votes. Second place with an impressive 759 votes was taken by Barcelona's Andres Iniesta for his first-time lob against Racing Santander.
But just edging out 'Don Andres' as the winner was AC Milan's evergreen marksman Filippo Inzaghi, who fought out the opposition garnering a whopping 968 of close to 2500 votes with his picture-perfect volley against Barcelona following Clarence Seedorf amazing raking pass which travelled over 40-yards. (The full results and the percentage breakdown can be seen here.)
Relive Inzaghi's cracking volley against the Catalans below:
As a teaser ahead of next week's list, despite a limited schedule of football ahead of the big international weekend a few crackers have hit the net in the past few days. Arguably the most high-profile of those came in the Oldham-Manchester United reserve match which saw the return of Rio Ferdinand to the pitch (see highlights here), yet it was Federico Macheda who took the plaudit with a cracking winner into the top corner.
