The Irish bookmaker have reported that almost a third of the bets they have taken on their outright Premier League market have been for Louis van Gaal's side to clinch the title
With just over a week to go until the new campaign gets underway the bookmaker have plenty of bets for Louis van Gaal's team.
Thirty three per cent of Paddy Power punters have backed the side that suffered a disastrous campaign under David Moyes last season, while only 9% of bets have been struck on their rivals and defending champions Manchester City.
Manuel Pellegrini's side are 5/2 (3.50) second favourites to retain their crown with market principles Chelsea available at 19/10 (2.90) with the same firm.
Sixteen per cent of punters have opted to back a Blues side that have been busy in the transfer market over the last month, adding Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Didier Drogba to their ranks.
Arsenal have proved popular in the outright betting with 24% of the public putting cash on the Gunners adding a Premier League trophy to last season's FA Cup victory, an outcome that's available at 6/1 (7.0). Liverpool have attracted 15% of the support after their near miss last season at 12/1 (13.0).
Meanwhile, at the other end of the table it's Southampton that are the best backed team to slip into the Championship. A staggering 41% of punters involved in the relegation market have wagered that the Saints (now a 4/1 shot) are in the bottom three at the end of the season after a summer of selling on the south coast.
The other teams that have been backed to go down are West Brom (11/4), Newcastle (8/1) and odds on favourites Burnley (4/7).
