While Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar are widely expected to light up the competition, you can get odds of 9/2 (5.50), 12/1 (13.00) and 5/1 (6.00) respectively on the star names failing to find the net in Brazil.
Considering Messi and Ronaldo boast just three goals between them from their previous two competitions, those odds may be prove tempting for some, while Neymar is untested on this stage.
Probably even more appealing are the 6/5 (2.20) odds on Miroslav Klose grabbing two goals or more to surpass the Brazilian Ronaldo as the all-time World Cup top scorer.
Having found the net in five of his last 10 international appearances, the veteran striker is more than capable of demonstrating his appetite for the big occasion when a free-scoring Germany side take on Portugal, Ghana and the USA in their group.
Alternatively, odds of 2/1 (3.00) are equally enticing on Andrea Pirlo doing what he does best and finding the net with a free-kick from outside the box, just as he managed in both last summer’s Confederations Cup and Euro 2012.
On the other hand, fans of a long shot can get odds of 150/1 (151.00) on a team qualifying for the last 16 without finding the net at all, realistically an extremely unlikely proposition.
Looking further ahead, there are odds of 9/2 (5.50) available on the final being decided via a penalty shootout for just the third time in history, while you can get a 4/1 (5.00) price on the match being marred by a red card.
