Barcelona-Atletico Madrid Betting Preview: Why fewer than three goals look likely again

The sixth meeting of these two sides this season should be the tightest of the lot, with our man Phil Kitromilides expecting under 2.5 goals in the Spanish title decider
And so it comes down to this.

After 37 matches, and nine months of competition, the Spanish league title will be decided on Saturday afternoon at Camp Nou.

The permutations are simple: a win for Barcelona will see them retain their title, while a draw or a victory for Atletico Madrid will see them crowned champions for the first time in 18 years, having been 100/1 (101.0) for the title before the season began.

Paddy Power offer Barca at 5/6 (1.83) to claim victory while Atletico can be backed at 3/1 (4.00) and a title-clinching draw for the visitors is available at 11/4 (3.75).

The five previous meetings this season between the two sides have seen four draws and one win for Atleti, with all five encounters seeing under 2.5 goals scored.

A repeat is offered at 4/5 (1.80) and it is difficult to conceive of a better bet, especially when considering the statistics.

The bet has paid out in 10 of Atleti's last 11 league games, while Barca have been struggling in front of goal recently.

Indeed, the Blaugrana have managed just two goals in 450 minutes of football against Diego Simeone's side this season and with so much at stake, another tight game looks on the cards.
