Blackburn-Burnley Betting Preview: Expect a tight encounter in this fierce derby clash

It's a Lancashire derby on Sunday with the Clarets looking to maintain their promotion push but our tipster can see these two sides cancelling each other out
Burnley have been one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season as they sit in second position, five points ahead of Derby in third.

Blackburn are their opponents this weekend, and with the play-offs still within their reach, they will be desperate for the win. As well as the valuable three points at stake, there are plenty of local bragging rights at stake here, with only 12 miles separating the two clubs.

Burnley come into this match having won four of their last five matches, including a huge win over Derby County last weekend at home.

Sean Dyche's side certainly have the squad to gain promotion to the Premier League, and will be keen to stay in the automatic places having occupied them for the majority of the season. William Hill price them at 8/5 (2.60) to take all three points.

Blackburn have struggled for any consistency this season. With three losses, two wins and three draws in their last eight games illustrating just how difficult they are to predict. They will need to put together a run of victories to stand any chance of reaching the top six though. Last time out they were thumped 4-0 by rivals Bolton in the Championship. William Hill price them at 8/5 (2.60) as well, with the same firm pricing the draw at 21/10 (3.10).

The price of over 2.5 goals at 13/10 (2.30) catches the eye with William Hill, but with this only paying out in three of Burnley's last six and two of Blackburn's last five, it's worth avoiding.

Instead, the draw looks like a play in this match, with neither side wanting to lose to their bitter rival. The price of 21/10 (3.10) is a quite short for a draw, but still worth backing. This would have paid out the last three times these two sides have met, with the scoreline ending 1-1 on each occasion. It may also be worth a small investment in that scoreline again at 11/2 (6.50).
