Espanyol - Villarreal Betting Preview: Why neither side will keep a clean sheet

Our man in Spain Phil Kitromilides has been in fine form and he believes both sides will score in Barcelona this evening
Espanyol come into tonight's game on a high after back-to-back wins for the first time since September, and with seventh place in La Liga ensuring European football, Javier Aguirre's men may well be looking for a late charge up the table.

Villarreal, on the other hand, have suffered successive defeats, with last week's loss at home to Celta Vigo particularly disappointing.

The Yellow Submarine are now seven points off the final Champions League place and anything other than a win this evening would leave them as outsiders for claiming fourth spot. A home win can be backed at 6/4 (2.50) while Villarreal are offered at 19/10 (2.90). The draw is priced at 11/5 (3.20).

However, this looks like a game that could well see goals at both ends, and the price of 10/11 (1.91) for both teams to score is well worth considering.

Villarreal are an attacking, attractive side who can usually be relied on for goals, yet in recent weeks they have been conceding regularly too.

Both teams to score has paid out in seven of their last ten games, during which time Marcelino's side have kept only one clean sheet.

Espanyol, for their part, have regularly scored at home, with their only blank in the last six league games at Cornella El Prat coming against Real Madrid. The statistics therefore back up this selection, which is offered at a price which looks like giving punters some genuine value.
