Barcelona-Malaga Betting Preview: Why you should back a low-scoring first half

Our La Liga expert has a selection that has paid out in four of the Catalans' last five games, as well as in the visitors' last eight matches
Barcelona welcome Malaga to Camp Nou on Sunday and following successive draws in La Liga the reigning champions will be looking to get back to winning ways against the struggling Andalusians.

At home, the Blaugrana remain as imposing a prospect as ever, with the Catalans having recorded a stunning 24 consecutive league victories in their cavernous stadium.

It is hardly surprising then to find Barca priced at just 1/12 (1.08) with bet365 for the win, while Malaga are offered at 22/1 (23.00).

While Barca remain imperious at home, in recent weeks it is fair to say they have not been firing on all cylinders. That they will beat Malaga remains almost certain but it might take the Catalans a while for them to hit their stride.

Recently they have been scoring more in the second half and with Malaga boasting a decent defence, backing a low scoring first half could be an intelligent selection. Under 1.5 goals in the first half is offered at evens (2.00) and is a bet which has paid out in four of their last five matches.

Malaga have been in solid defensive form, letting in just two goals in their last five matches, with their total of 24 goals conceded the fifth lowest in the division. Furthermore, this bet has paid out in each of the Costa del Sol club's previous eight league games making it a solid selection.
