Swansea City-Manchester City Betting Preview: Expect an easy victory for the away side

The first Premier League match of 2014 sees Manuel Pellegrini take his side to South Wales, with our tipster backing the visitors to win comfortably
Manchester City are currently enjoying a fantastic run of form, staying unbeaten in their last 11 matches, winning 10 of those encounters. Despite a hard-fought victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, they come into this match against Swansea City as outright favourites at 4/7 (1.57) with bet365.

The Swans are struggling for victories, going six matches without picking up a win. Michael Laudrup's side still sit in mid-table, but unless they can start gaining three points from matches, they could find themselves drifting towards the bottom of the Premier League.

Despite dominating Aston Villa at the weekend, they only managed a 1-1 draw in the Midlands and are 19/4 (5.75) outsiders with bet365 to win against Man City. The same firm price the draw at 3/1 (4.00).

Despite missing Sergio Aguero due to injury, City had continued their fine scoring form, netting nine goals in three games before the weekend.

However, a resilient Crystal Palace side restricted them to only one goal at the Etihad at the weekend, but with goals usually easy to come by for City, the over 2.5 goals bet would have been worth investing in had it not been a short 1/2 (1.50) with bet365.

Instead, it's worth looking at the handicap market to find value. With City in sensational form, expect them to come to Wales and start 2014 with a bang. City -1 handicap is 13/10 (2.30) with bet365, and when you consider Pellegrini's side have scored 14 goals in five away games, they are likely to find the net against Swansea. With Laudrup's side struggling for goals with Michu out injured, expect little reaction from the Swans.
