Steve Bruce's men are flying high after their victory over Liverpool, and Al Hain-Cole expects their defensive resilience to make life difficult for the leaders on Wednesday
The Tigers sprung a shock 2-1 win on their first ever visit to this stadium five years ago but have lost all four meetings between the sides since then and are 13/1 (14.00) outsiders with Betway to come out on top in this one.
Arsene Wenger’s men have won 10 of their last 12 games in the Premier League and are strongly fancied at 9/50 (1.18) to ease to victory against their newly-promoted opponents.
The hosts are yet to draw a home game this season but you can get odds of 11/2 (6.50) on them gaining a solitary point against a team who have not seen a single stalemate on the road in the league so far.
While Sunday’s win at the KC Stadium was undoubtedly something of a shock result, it was no real surprise to see Steve Bruce’s men making life difficult for their more illustrious opponents.
The visitors earned promotion from the Championship last season despite boasting just the 15th most prolific attack in the division, thanks to a defence that conceded only 52 goals in 46 games.
This resilience has largely served Bruce’s side well this season, as they have conceded fewer goals than Manchester United so far and restricted high-scoring Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton to just under two goals apiece in previous fixtures.
Hull’s five-man backline will therefore be quietly confident of putting up a fight against an attack that has scored just 13 goals in their last nine matches, and odds of 6/5 (2.20) offer tempting value on under 2.5 goals being scored.
That bet would have paid out in nine of the guests’ 13 league games so far, as well as seven of the Gunners’ last eight in all competitions.
Nevertheless, Arsenal have consistently found a way of overcoming stubborn opponents this campaign, and it is well worth taking up the 17/4 (5.25) price on them running out 2-0 winners, as they have in each of their last three home games and three of the last five league fixtures.
